Centrifuged Latex
Natural Latex
Natural latex concentrate is processed from fresh field latex to increase its rubber content while maintaining stability. Ammonia is added as a preservative to prevent coagulation and bacterial growth. Based on ammonia content, latex concentrate is classified into:
High Ammonia (HA) Latex
- Ammonia Content: 0.6% - 0.8%
- Dry Rubber Content (DRC): 60% Min
- Preservatives: Ammonia only
- Stability: Long shelf life, minimal need for additional preservatives
Common Uses
- Dipped products (gloves, balloons, condoms)
- Adhesives
- Foam mattresses and cushions
- Industrial rubber products
Low Ammonia (LATZ) Latex
- Ammonia Content: 0.2% - 0.3%
- Dry Rubber Content (DRC): 60% Min
- Preservatives: Ammonia with additional stabilizers (Tetra Methyl Thiuram Disulfide - TMTD & Zinc Oxide)
- Stability: Lower ammonia odor, requires additional stabilizers to prevent spoilage
Common Uses
- Medical gloves and catheters
- High-quality dipped products
- Applications where lower ammonia content is preferred
Key Differences Between HA Latex and LATZ
Both HA Latex and LATZ are widely used in the rubber industry, with HA Latex offering better long-term stability and LATZ being preferred for applications requiring lower ammonia levels.
| Property | HA Latex | LATZ Latex |
|---|---|---|
| Ammonia Content (%) | 0.6 - 0.8% | 0.2 - 0.3% |
| Preservatives | Ammonia only | Ammonia + TMTD & ZnO |
| Odor | Strong ammonia smell | Milder ammonia smell |
| Shelf Life | Longer | Shorter (requires stabilizers) |
| Application | Industrial and general use | Medical and sensitive applications |
